In a small bowl, mash butter, cheese, basil and garlic together with the back of a fork. Add salt and pepper and stir to distribute throughout the butter mixture.
Brush about 1 tbsp of the seasoned butter over each ear of corn. Grill over direct medium heat until browned in spots and tender, 10 to 15 minutes, turning occasionally. Serve warm with the remaining butter.
